I have decided to develop a compositional project that embraces multiculturalism and focuses on the exploration of orchestral colour, in the belief that music today must function as an open ecosystem. This compositional practice aims to demonstrate how multiculturalism in music is not only an option, but an essential historical and artistic necessity. As Duke Ellington’s orchestral visions, Enrico Rava’s lyricism, or the sonic architectures of Guillermo Klein and Egberto Gismonti teach us, musical identity is regenerated through the encounter with the “other.” In this sense, my compositions are not just a technical exercise, but the first experiment towards an idea of an “extended soundtrack”: a boundary place where music and theatrical gesture converge to translate the complexity of the contemporary world into an accessible, humane experience close to the audience. It is in this incessant exchange between roots and contaminations that music has found and, I hope, will continue to find, its communicative energy.
